Now if you have questions like is sesame chicken keto friendly? Well, let me answer that now, definitely yes, it can be a keto-approved meal if made properly by substituting certain ingredients like wheat flours and other sugars.

Below are the main ingredients we will be adding to make a flavorful keto sesame chicken sauce.
Soy sauce – I am using 0 carb soy sauce here (you can buy it here) or you can use coconut aminos or liquid aminos which is an alternative to soy sauce.
Low carb sweeteners – use sweeteners like sukrin gold, but you can use lakanto’s golden monkfruit sweetener or stevia/erythritol blend or any other brown sugar substitute.
Vinegar – I am using distilled white vinegar, but you can use apple cider vinegar or rice wine vinegar.
Xanthan gum – to thicken the sauce, you can use guar gum powder instead.
Additional Flavors (Optional) – if you would like to add more flavor to the chicken, feel free to add some seasoning to the sauce. Look for flavors that will complement the other ingredients in the recipe.

I just made this today and I absolutely loved it!!! I’m not keto but I try to do some low carb recipes and this just became my favorite. Thank you!!
Your welcome Olivia, thanks for trying out!
The sesame flavor was overwhelming for my taste/expectations in sesame chicken. Where we live it’s peanut flavored and sticky sweet.
So I added another tablespoon of monk fruit sweetener about 1/4 tsp honey and 1 Tablespoon powdered peanut butter. Turned out great!
That’s great! Thanks for trying out!
If you are doing the baked version how do you do the sauce?
Actually, for the baked version, sauce ingredients are not necessary (just follow the steps I have mentioned under the baked version).
ok thank you! Do they taste about the same? Which one would you prefer? Making this for dinner tonight and cant decide which one to make?
I recommend you to make the fried one with the sauce
I want to try this but cornstarch has high carb content for keto. Do you have an alternative suggestion?
You can use almond flour as an alternative
I thought cornstarch wasn’t keto
Actually you can use xanthan gum or guar gum powder instead (i already mentioned that above)
You added xanthum gym in the sauce. Do you also use the the xanthum to sub for the cornstarch as well? It wasn’t quite clear. I just want to know if I need to use xanthum twice. Both for chicken and sauce.
No, i used cornflour for the chicken part
Sorry. I’m confused. The baked version used almond flour for coating but it wasn’t mention on the fried version. Was it the arrowroot powder that was used for the coating?
Yes, the baked is different than the fried one.. The Baked version used almond flour whereas on the fried version I used arrowroot powder. So, if you are making the baked version just follow the steps mentioned.
Making this I was a bit sceptical- the egg mixture just didn’t look like it would make a coating for the chicken. Boy was I wrong! This is one of the best home made sesame chicken recipes I’ve found!
Next time I’ll probably double the sauce , and cut back on the sweetener
I have searched and searched and don’t see how much xanthan gum you would use for the TBSP cornstarch.
I know you say you can use Xantham gum as a replacement which is less carbs? Also upon googling it I saw that psyllium husk is also a good substitute.
Yes you can use that too
And can you use chicken breast instead?
Yes you can use..
How would boneless chicken breasts sub in?
Yes you can.
I was expecting it to be saucy and it was not. Tasted ok. It was a simple recipe to make.
How many portions does this recipe yield?
All the family loved this – I’m the only one watching the carbs but it was suitable for everyone. Nice recipe, thanks
How much do you have per serving. 1 cup, 1/2 cup or???
1/3 of the recipe
What can i use in place of the sukrin gold/ lakanto? I dont have those near me and i wanna make this tonight. (I wanna keep the carbs low)
Five stars! I was in a rush and messed up. I dipped chicken in egg and tossed in cornstarch. It was delicious. My husband wants it again tonight so I will make it the correct way. I also used boneless skinless chicken breast and I also doubled the sauce. This is definitely a keeper recipe thank you.
Made this tonight for the Chinese New Year and OMG it was delish. I used avocado oil and arrowroot powder instead. Absolutely delish!!!
Thank you for sharing!
Is Xantham gum necessary to use?
Yes, it is.
Can I use Allose for my sweetner?
when a recipe calls for coconut oil melted can I use coconut oil that does not need melted?
Yes ofcourse you can
Very nice thank you. I used about 1tsp arrowroot and 3tsp lupin flour. Did not need xanthan gum.
